Reasons Behind The Development Of Bad Habits And Challenges To Stop Them

Bad habits begin with emotional triggers such as stress and loneliness or any kind of fear or boredom, which further seek to fulfil a desire in their life.

This way, people seek immediate relief, and this action becomes automatic and affects them throughout their life.

After serving decades in the community work, I have built a community team along with my Islamic legacy of 3-generation family.

I have observed that these bad habits grow in silence and affect your emotional and mental well-being. According to Islam, it is the shaitan who is exploiting your vulnerabilities and impose you with this identity.

Hence, it is very important to understand this process and allow yourself to break it intentionally. It will take some time, but help you a long way to get rid of all such circumstances and challenges.

To begin with, you can start distracting yourself and managing your emotions well so that you can further combine your dua with the practical steps mentioned below.

Understanding How These Habits Are Damaging Your Life

These bad habits not only affect your behaviour but it is also affect your faith, relationships and emotional stability apart from your self-worth.

I am an imam who follows a daily routine based on Islamic principles, and my mission on Quranilove.com is to provide authentic, verified solutions with practical steps so that people do not fall into the trap of fake promises and misinformed confusion.

I have seen many failures in marriages and family connections, and priorities got distracted because of the spiritual restlessness and weakened Taqwa.

So it is very important to make a desire to seek mercy from Allah. Once you start learning how to handle these bad habits, then it becomes a consistent effort, and you will somehow understand that when these habits are triggering you, you want attention from yourself.

If you practice the actions which are harming you in some way or the other way, then you will fall into the trap of it. But you need to be very aware and attentive so that you can understand how this is damaging your life.

Understanding The Perspective of Islam on Habits and Self-Control

Islam always tells us about the spiritual war between nafs and shaitan. My teachers have provided me with authenticated and verified knowledge, which helps to emphasise self-reflection to expose the hidden weaknesses and ways to correct them.

This spiritual purification helps you to enlighten yourself into the act of worship and guidance towards self-discipline.

I have international experience working with the Muslim community for over 20 years, and due to my community since I can tell that the foundation of self-transformation seeks spiritual guidance and mercy from Allah.

Self-control is not very hard, and you will learn it if you have the desire and willingness to achieve it. This is not only a transformation to your awareness and self-control but it is rather a spiritual practice and act of worship which will help you to strengthen your heart and mind in such a way that you will find yourself closer to Allah.

The Spiritual Power of Dua And Exploring Weapons To Stop Bad Habits

Reciting the words of the dua is not enough; you also need to speak your heart directly to Allah so that you can get the strength and remove weaknesses from your heart.

Over 20 years, after providing healing help to individuals, I realised that only therapy alone or resetting the dua does not work.

A dua shifts your mindset into a new transformation where, if you dedicate yourself with loyalty and faith,  then you will be able to transform your disparity into hope, weaknesses into strength and confusion into clarity.

It also helps you to find some tools and steps by which you can acknowledge your witnesses and turn them into strengths through a cycle of practical steps.

Holistic Application of Dua, Effort and Trust For Divine Act

My experience in counselling especially lies in giving solutions to youth struggling with addiction or any kind of family emotional instability, and I have figured out that there is one truth.

Your dua alone is incomplete, and your effort alone is insufficient if done separately. So you need to trust Allah and try or efforts along with your dua.

This means that you should make dua and avoid all the triggers which are causing you to feel distant from good things.

You also need to make clear and healthy boundaries, along with a good routine, so that Allah can bless you for your sincere efforts. Also, understanding the Qadar helps you to find peace which is also lawfully known as divine order.

Essential Duas to Break Cycle of Harmful Bad Habits and Addictions

Over the past 20 years, I have gathered beautiful and powerful duaa which can help you in your critical times to get over the real-life problems and guide you towards the solutions and peace. Below I have mentioned those powerful duaa which you can recite as per your needs and requirements.

  • This dua of Steadfastness in life is from Quranic verse 14:40, which is recited as “Rabbi ij‘alnī muqeemaṣ–ṣalāh wa min dhurriyyatī, rabbanā wa taqabbal du‘ā’”
  • This dua is used to get over anxiety and laziness, which is also termed as Shahih al-bukhari 2893, and it is recited as Allahumma innī a‘ūdhu bika minal-hammi wal-ḥazan, wal-‘ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-bukhl, wa ḍala‘id-dayn, wa ghalabatir-rijāl.
  • This dua is for a strong heart and peaceful mind, named as Jami at-tirmidhi 2140, which is recited as Yā Muqallib al-qulūb, thabbit qalbī ‘alā dīnik.
  • This dua is for the consistency in the act of worship and pursuing good habits, and it is named as Sunan Abu Dawud 1522, and it is recited as Allahumma a‘innī ‘alā dhikrika wa shukrika wa ḥusni ‘ibādatik.
  • This dua is for receiving goodness and beneficial alternatives in life. It is from Quranic verse 28:24, and it is recited as Rabbi innī limā anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqīr.

Practical Steps and Actions to Empower Your Dua

In my years of youth counselling work, I have combined psychology with Islamic principles, and it has helped thousands of people in life.

This is a habit loop which arises from a trigger which further leads to a habit. After this, it becomes the routine that you do in your daily life to get over your stress, and further, it gives you a reward, which you gain in the sense of feeling relaxed.

Here is a need to replace your thoughts or actions rather than just removing them. For example, you can replace scrolling with dhikr and replace your anger with wudu, and replace your isolation with a beneficial and supportive company.

Make an environment around yourself in such a way that it becomes hard for you to sin and very easy to pursue good deeds.

Management of Cravings and Setbacks in Life

Cravings and slips from your morals are often seen in normal behaviour. Islam here teaches Muraqaba, where you enlighten your awareness and strengthen your connection to Allah. Here are some tools which you can use to control your cravings and setbacks.

  • Try to delay your urges by 10 to 15 minutes when they arise.
  • Distract yourself with any visual or audio methods for that moment.
  • Make fresh ablutions and wudu repetitively so that you can feel good.
  • Recite a short dua from the above-mentioned essential prayers, which can help you in a critical time.
  • Try to change your environment, and these micro steps will help you create a big breakthrough.

The Journey of Transformation With Patience and Perseverance

The sabar and Istiqamah are considered to be the 2 major backbones of spiritual transformation when you are trying to get over your addictions.

When you sleep in such of negative or bad activity, you need to seek tawabah, and learn from the trigger which you observed in your daily life and then restart yourself with a humility nature so that you can feel good.

This will also help you to get closer to the people whom you love and get back to them with all the love and appreciation.

This will help you to solve your marriage issue and break the addictions which are hampering you in transforming your life. Apart from this, it will also teach you patience and perseverance so that you can feel a sense of spiritual connection with the Almighty Allah.

Building a Supportive Environment For Your Change

A good company is essential for your guidance and to save yourself from any kind of distraction. It is also said in Islam that a person who follows the religion of his close friend will eventually become the person like his Close friend.

Hence, you need to surround yourself with a righteous community and company so that you can bless yourself with knowledgeable mentors and authentic Islamic scholars who can guide you with good principles and actions in your life.

It will also help you to become a supportive member of your family. As I have built a community-based Islamic team so I can guide you well on this, and we can create a better uplift together to strengthen your heart and mind.

Conclusion

Breaking the bad habits is a very beautiful journey of purification. It requires your strong desires along with the regular recitation of the dua with discipline and dedication.

If you keep repeating this to support yourself, then you will walk towards Allah, and you will be able to seek his guidance and mercy in a very short period of time.

Just remember that every small step matters for you, and every moment of resistance is recorded because you are performing a sincere dua with good intentions, and it will be rewarded back once you have finished your dua.

So even if you start with one dua, keep this in mind that this one change will bring you one step closer towards your transformation.
